January Newsletter - Vol. 43

“We cannot seek achievement for ourselves and forget about progress and prosperity for our community. Our ambitions must be broad enough to include the aspirations and needs of others, for their sakes and our own.” - Cesar Chavez

Community Connections

When we open our newsfeed every day, we are struck by the divide between people. The political divide is most obvious, but the divides go deeper. Divided cultures, divide homes, divided communities. As editors and proofreaders, we are blessed to be a part of the indie publishing community. We have been given so much love and support by the authors, editors, and small publishing houses we have worked with. So our challenge for January is how to continue to return that love and support. What new ways can we find to bring joy to our community?

As we spoke with people about their New Year’s resolutions, we saw a recurring resolution. “I want to finish my book.” So many people are called to write, yet they falter. When we asked how we could support them, they asked for encouragement (and occasionally they asked for a kick in the butt, which made us laugh).

So, this year we’d like to extend that offer of encouragement to everyone. If you’d like one of our team members to reach out every couple of weeks to check in on your writing and encourage you to keep going, let us know. If you have friends who want writing encouragement, tell them to reach out. We’re offering this free of charge, with no obligations on your part, as a way to help our community.

We would also love to hear about how you’re helping your community!

New Year Savings

To celebrate the new year, we're extending the discount we mentioned in our December newsletter and adding a little extra perk to sweeten the deal. If you book a line or content edit in January or February and mention the code YAY2021, you’ll get 10% your total AND we’ll waive the rush booking fees (normally $100).

We hope you make the most of the first month of 2021 and get yourself off to a positive start. Until next month, take care and keep on keeping on!
